गालियाँ तनख़्वाह ठहरी है अगर बट जाएगी
आशिक़ों के घर मिठाई लब शकर बट जाएगी
If abuses are fixed as our wages, let them be handed out; the sweet confection of sugar-lips shall reach each lover’s house.
If abuses have been fixed as our wages, then let them be distributed; for lovers, receiving words from those sugar-sweet lips is just like getting sweets at home.

रू-ब-रू गर होगा यूसुफ़ और तू आ जाएगा
उस की जानिब से ज़ुलेख़ा की नज़र बट जाएगी
Should Yusuf stand before her and you arrive in view, even Zulaikha's captivated gaze would divide and turn to you.
If Yusuf is standing face to face and you arrive there, even Zulaikha's focused gaze will be divided and turned away from him toward you.

रहज़नों में नाज़-ओ-ग़म्ज़ा की ये जिंस-ए-दीन-ओ-दिल
जूँ मता-ए-बुर्दा आख़िर हम-दिगर बट जाएगी
Among the bandits of coquetry and pride, like plundered spoils, this wealth of faith and heart will in the end divide.

होगा क्या गर बोल उट्ठे ग़ैर बातों में मिरी
फिर तबीअत मेरी ऐ बेदाद गर बट जाएगी
What will happen if the rival interrupts while I speak? / Then my attention, O cruel one, will only be divided.

दौलत-ए-दुनिया नहीं जाने की हरगिज़ तेरे साथ
बाद तेरे सब यहीं ऐ बे-ख़बर बट जाएगी
This worldly wealth will never make the journey at your side; once you are gone, O heedless soul, right here it will divide.

कर ले ऐ दिल जान को भी रंज-ओ-ग़म में तू शरीक
ये जो मेहनत तुझ पे है कुछ कुछ मगर बट जाएगी
O heart, make life a partner in your grief and sorrow too / This heavy burden weighing on you will at least be partly shared.

मूँग छाती पे जो दलते हैं किसी की देखना
जूतियों में दाल उन की ऐ 'ज़फ़र' बट जाएगी
Those who torment another, grinding lentils on their chest, just wait and see: O Zafar, among their very shoes, their own broth divided shall be.
O Zafar, just watch: those who torment others and grind lentils on their chests will one day end up quarreling and falling out among themselves.
