याद है शादी में भी हंगामा-ए-या-रब मुझे

Mirza Ghalib· Ghazal· 8 shers· radif: मुझे

This ghazal explores the poet's profound inner turmoil, where even joyous occasions are tinged with spiritual yearning and a hidden smile of defiance. It delves into the liberating power of expression and the paradoxical nature of finding solace in unfulfilled desires, even to the point of envying the calm of prisoners. The poet's heart is drawn to the bittersweet 'pleasures of longing,' seeing the breaking of a wish as its ultimate meaning.
