This profound couplet is a warning to the seeker (salik) of the spiritual path. Allama Iqbal advises that the heart must be subjugated to reason (khirad), or the guide must embody reason itself. He reminds us that the journey of self-discovery and spiritual growth is incredibly challenging. We must be mindful and cautious, because this stage of life requires immense wisdom and discipline.
