The tale of my heart's sorrow could never to them be conveyed; / Things had turned so terribly awry that no amends could be made.
I could not narrate the story of my heart's sorrow to them, because the situation had turned so complicated that it could no longer be salvaged.
2
In the frenzy of passion's madness, I forgot all else beside; yet your memory was the one thing that could never be cast aside.
In the frenzy of my madness I forgot everyone, but your memory was such that it could never be forgotten.

Over love, the weeping eye could hold no sway; the fire it set ablaze could never be quenched.
The tearful eyes had no control over love; the fire ignited by love could never be extinguished.
4
Upon which fell the radiant reflection of the beloved's face / Even turned to dust, this heart never lost its pristine clarity.
The heart upon which the radiant reflection of the beloved's beauty fell never lost its purity, even after turning to dust.

How could the morning breeze lift my dust from that threshold, when this calamity was more than even my beloved could raise?
How could the morning breeze lift my dust from that threshold, when this calamity could not be lifted or endured even by the beloved themselves?
