दिल में किसी के राह किए जा रहा हूँ मैं
This ghazal portrays the intoxicating paradox of love, where making a path into the beloved's heart is embraced as an exquisite and beautiful sin. दिल में किसी के राह किए जा रहा हूँ मैं
कितना हसीं गुनाह किए जा रहा हूँ मैं
Carving a path into someone's heart, onward I go; ah, what an exquisite sin I keep committing so.

दुनिया-ए-दिल तबाह किए जा रहा हूँ मैं
सर्फ़-ए-निगाह-ओ-आह किए जा रहा हूँ मैं
I go on laying waste to the realm of my heart, squandering it all away upon mere glances and sighs.

फ़र्द-ए-अमल सियाह किए जा रहा हूँ मैं
रहमत को बे-पनाह किए जा रहा हूँ मैं
I keep blackening the scroll of my misdeeds, / Calling forth a mercy that every bound exceeds.
I keep blackening the record of my deeds with sins, and in doing so, I am making divine mercy boundless.

ऐसी भी इक निगाह किए जा रहा हूँ मैं
ज़र्रों को मेहर-ओ-माह किए जा रहा हूँ मैं
Such is the wondrous glance that I bestow, turning mere specks of dust into the sun and moon.
I am casting such a glance that I am turning ordinary specks of dust into the sun and the moon.

मुझ से लगे हैं इश्क़ की अज़्मत को चार चाँद
ख़ुद हुस्न को गवाह किए जा रहा हूँ मैं
Through me, love’s towering majesty is crowned with fourfold grace, as I summon Beauty itself to stand witness in this place.
It is because of me that the grandeur of love has been enhanced with immense glory, and I am making Beauty itself a witness to this.

दफ़्तर है एक मानी-ए-बे-लफ़्ज़-ओ-सौत का
सादा सी जो निगाह किए जा रहा हूँ मैं

आगे क़दम बढ़ाएँ जिन्हें सूझता नहीं
रौशन चराग़-ए-राह किए जा रहा हूँ मैं
Let those step forward who cannot find their way; I keep kindling the lamps along the road.
Those who cannot see the way ahead should step forward, as I am lighting the lamps along the path.

मासूमी-ए-जमाल को भी जिन पे रश्क है
ऐसे भी कुछ गुनाह किए जा रहा हूँ मैं
Sins that even the innocence of beauty envies—such are the transgressions I go on committing.
I keep on committing such sins that even the innocence of beauty feels envious of them.

तन्क़ीद-ए-हुस्न मस्लहत-ए-ख़ास-ए-इश्क़ है
ये जुर्म गाह गाह किए जा रहा हूँ मैं
To critique beauty is love's own sacred design; time and again, I keep committing this crime.

उठती नहीं है आँख मगर उस के रू-ब-रू
नादीदा इक निगाह किए जा रहा हूँ मैं

गुलशन-परस्त हूँ मुझे गुल ही नहीं अज़ीज़
काँटों से भी निबाह किए जा रहा हूँ मैं
A lover of the garden, not just the rose is dear to me; even with the wounding thorns, I keep faith and harmony.
I am a lover of the entire garden, so it is not just the flower that is dear to me; I am maintaining harmony and getting along with the thorns as well.

यूँ ज़िंदगी गुज़ार रहा हूँ तिरे बग़ैर
जैसे कोई गुनाह किए जा रहा हूँ मैं
I live this life without you in such a way, as though I go on committing a sin.
I am spending my life without you in such a manner, as though I am continuously committing some sin.

मुझ से अदा हुआ है 'जिगर' जुस्तुजू का हक़
हर ज़र्रे को गवाह किए जा रहा हूँ मैं
I have paid in full, O Jigar, the righteous due of the quest; making every speck of dust a witness, onward I tread.
O Jigar, I have truly fulfilled the duty of the quest, making every speck of dust a witness to my journey as I move forward.
