न तू ज़मीं के लिए है न आसमाँ के लिए

The verses

1. न तू ज़मीं के लिए है न आसमाँ के लिए जहाँ है तेरे लिए तू नहीं जहाँ के लिए

   Meaning: Neither are you for the earth nor for the sky, Where you are, you are not for the world.

2. निगह बुलंद सुख़न दिल-नवाज़ जाँ पुर-सोज़ यही है रख़्त-ए-सफ़र मीर-ए-कारवाँ के लिए

   Meaning: With lofty vision, sweet words, and a heart that delights, oh beloved, full of passion, This is the very path of life for the traveler-poet.

3. ज़रा सी बात थी अंदेशा-ए-अजम ने उसे बढ़ा दिया है फ़क़त ज़ेब-ए-दास्ताँ के लिए

   Meaning: A mere whisper of a matter, the apprehension of the world, / Has magnified it merely for the beauty of the tale.

4. मिरे गुलू में है इक नग़्मा जिब्राईल-आशोब संभाल कर जिसे रक्खा है ला-मकाँ के लिए

   Meaning: In my chest, there is a melody, a gift from Gabriel-Ashob, which I have kept for a place without boundaries.
