Jigar Moradabadi· Ghazal· 5 shers· radif:

This ghazal captures the lover's anguish over being consciously ignored by the beloved, while affirming that heartfelt laments and cries never go unnoticed. It reflects a poignant blend of emotional yearning, philosophical detachment, and a relentless yet aimless journey in the pursuit of love.

O you who pass right by, deliberately turning away, / These laments of mine will not go without their sway.
O you who pass right beside me while deliberately avoiding me, these laments and cries of mine will not go in vain without having an effect.
2
They know not where they are destined to go; yet onward they journey, those bound to depart.
Those who are departing do not know at all where they have to go, yet they keep on moving ahead.
3
Take with you the restlessness of my heart as well, / O you who steal away on tiptoe, turning your face away.
O you who are leaving quietly on tiptoe with your face turned away, take along the restlessness of my heart with you as well.
4
Those who once passed by everyone with a cold refusal / Now stand transfixed at a single gesture from you.
Those who used to pass by everyone saying 'no' are now standing completely motionless at a single gesture from you.
5
In love we have truly lived and shall ever live on; they must be someone else, those who wither and die.
We have lived in love and will continue to live; those who die in love must be someone else.
