Do not weep for the season of youth in your bed,
For dawn is here, come, sleep now.
Do not weep for the season of youth in your bed, for dawn has arrived, come, sleep now.

Oh, when we gaze upon her cheek, oh, how we feel,
Our eyes are drawn to those eyes, oh, where we conceal.
Oh, when we gaze upon her cheek, oh, how we feel; our eyes are drawn to those eyes, oh, where we conceal.

Otherwise, wasting time is utterly useless.

Do not dip your finger in this warm water.
The poet asks, 'How do you bathe in tears, oh sorrow-wearer? Do not dip your finger in this warm water.'

We are beating around, oh, don't spoil the night.
The blind person cannot grasp the meaning in that manner; we are merely passing time here, so do not spoil the night.

How long must you carry this single basket of earth?
I have become very weary of this mortal body; how long must you carry this single basket of earth?

The alleyway of my being, which is dust to you, O Mir,
Do not wash my feet even with the water of life.
The alleyway of my existence, which is merely dust to you, O Mir, do not wash my feet even with the water of life. (Meaning: Since my being is insignificant or worthless to you, do not bestow even the greatest compassion or purification upon me.)
