कोई महरम नहीं मिलता जहाँ में

कोई महरम नहीं मिलता जहाँ में
मुझे कहना है कुछ अपनी ज़बाँ में
No confidant is found in all this world; / I have something to say in a tongue of my own.

क़फ़स में जी नहीं लगता किसी तरह
लगा दो आग कोई आशियाँ में
My heart finds no peace inside this cage, no solace anywhere; Let someone set the nest ablaze, and end my longing there.
My heart finds no peace inside this cage in any way; someone should just go and set fire to my nest.

कोई दिन बुल-हवस भी शाद हो लें
धरा क्या है इशारात-ए-निहाँ में
Let even the shallow suitors rejoice for a few days; what worth is there, after all, in veiled hints and secret ways?
Let the insincere suitors also be happy for a few days; after all, what value is there in hidden hints and secret gestures?

कहीं अंजाम आ पहुँचा वफ़ा का
घुला जाता हूँ अब के इम्तिहाँ में
Has the final reckoning of devotion arrived at last? / I am dissolving away in this trial now.
Has the ultimate end of faithfulness arrived somewhere? In this current trial, I feel as though I am dissolving away.

नया है लीजिए जब नाम उस का
बहुत वुसअ'त है मेरी दास्ताँ में
Whenever her name is spoken, it feels ever new; vast is the expanse of this tale of mine.
Whenever their name is spoken, it feels fresh and new; there is immense expanse in my story.

दिल-ए-पुर-दर्द से कुछ काम लूँगा
अगर फ़ुर्सत मिली मुझ को जहाँ में
I shall put this pain-filled heart to some task, should I ever find a moment of respite in this world.
If I ever find any leisure in this world, I will put this pain-filled heart of mine to some use.

बहुत जी ख़ुश हुआ 'हाली' से मिल कर
अभी कुछ लोग बाक़ी हैं जहाँ में
My heart was deeply gladdened upon meeting with Hali; it seems a few noble souls still remain in this world.
My heart was greatly pleased upon meeting Hali, realizing that some good people still exist in this world.
