Ghazal
This ghazal explores the overwhelming power and paradox of romantic suffering, observing how the agony of love has become even more profound than the beloved itself. It reflects on the beloved's indifference, asserting that true despondency in love can only be answered by the sincere fervor of reciprocal passion.

O beauty of my beloved, for shame! What a strange turnabout is this—that the pain you bestow has proven far more triumphant than you.
O beauty of the beloved, for shame, what a strange change this is, that the pain given by you has proven far more successful than you yourself.

Indifference is no answer to a lover's dejected heart; only the ardent surge of love can be its true reply.
Indifference or neglect is no answer to a lover's despondency; the only fitting response to it is a passionate surge of love.
3
Such are your graces that the offering of my life is declined; such are your kindnesses, pleading that the times are unkind.
Such is your grace that even the offering of my life is not accepted, and such is your benevolence that you turn it away saying the times are bad.
4
O Beauty, behold how you yourself embolden; granted, the eye of longing is brazenly unveiled.
O beauty, just look at your own encouragement; granted that the eye of desire is completely bold and unveiled.
5
I am love detached and free, you are beauty boundless and rare; neither is there a match for me, nor is there your equal anywhere.
I am carefree, self-sufficient love and you are boundless beauty; neither is there an equal to me, nor is there any match for you.
6
The tavern belongs to him, and this world is his alone—that thirsty soul in whose hand rests the cup of wine.
The tavern and this entire world belong to that thirsty person in whose hand lies the cup of wine.
7
How can I tell the story of my ruined heart to one who cannot even bear to hear that the world has turned unkind?
How can I narrate the painful story of my ruined heart to someone who cannot even bear to hear that the world has turned bad?
8
O censor, do not spill it, my censor do not cast it away; Cruel one, it is wine—ah, cruel one, it is wine!
O censor, do not throw it away, my censor do not spill it. O cruel one, understand that this is wine!
9
Let none transgress their bounds in love's embrace; / Each speck of dust is a sun in its own place.
No one should cross their limits in love, because every tiny speck of dust is as important as a sun in its own rightful place.
10
Though right before my eyes they stand, what cure is there for this? / The heart refuses to believe that sight has found its bliss.
Even if the beloved is right in front of my eyes, there is no remedy for the fact that my heart refuses to believe that my sight has truly succeeded in beholding them.
11
My ardent gaze of longing is by no means lacking, yet / Your youthful splendor remains peerlessly your own.
Although my gaze of longing is not lacking in any way, your youthful beauty remains incomparable and entirely your own.
12
Why did you accustom me to trusting in your grace? Now every fault born of desire is merely an answer to it.
Why did you make me accustomed to relying on your kindness? Now, every fault born of my passionate yearning is merely a response to that very trust.
13
I am her mirror, and she is mine; through my own sight, her gaze finds its fulfillment.
I am her mirror and she is mine; it is through my sight that her vision finds fulfillment.
14
O, blessed be this solitude of parting—here am I, the memory of my beloved, and eyes brimful of tears.
May I be sacrificed for this solitude of separation, where there is only me, the thought of my beloved, and eyes filled with tears.
15
Ask not, alas, of separation's bitter yield, O Jigar—this life that lingers is now a torment unto itself.
O Jigar, do not ask about the accumulation of separation; now this remaining life itself has become a torment for me.
