Ghazal
This ghazal is a delightful expression of romantic adoration and playful wit, where the poet praises the beloved as an earthly embodiment of celestial beauty (hoor). Through gentle banter and sincere devotion, it beautifully captures the lover's complete surrender to the charm and coquetry of the beloved.

The one they call a houri—in human form, it is none but you; / The one for whom my soul departs—my very life, it is you!
The one people call a heavenly nymph (houri) in human form is none other than you, and the one for whom my life departs—my beloved, that too is only you.

We speak of words with meaning, for the wise are surely we; you question what the meaning is, for the naive one are you.
We are speaking of meaningful things because we are the wise ones, and you are asking for the meaning because you are the naive one.

After cruelty, it is you alone who are moved to mercy, too; remorseful in heart over what was done, it is none other than you.
After inflicting cruelty, it is you who also feel mercy, and you alone are the one who feels remorse in your heart for what you have done.

You shall regret it bitterly, laying waste to my heart; who else dwells within this house, you alone are the guest.
You will regret ruining my heart deeply, for there is no other guest residing in this house except you.

One day these tender favors will show their true design; we knew all along it was our life for which you pine.
One day these favors of yours will show their true outcome; we already knew that it is you who seeks our life.

Beloved and enchanting, tormentor and thief of hearts—amidst a million, I shall proclaim: yes, yes, it is truly you!
You are loving, charming, heart-tormenting, and captivating; even among millions of people, we will say that yes, it is indeed you.

From afar, O Dagh, you greet the idol-shrine with your salaam; truly, you are a Muslim of your very own unique kind.
O Dagh, you greet the idol temple from afar; truly, you are a Muslim of your own unique kind.
