Ghazal
This ghazal reflects themes of self-reliance, spiritual detachment, and societal disillusionment. The poet expresses indifference toward oppression and worldly desires while poignantly observing a directionless caravan that has lost its true path.

No grief from stones of cruelty, no fear of grasping hands; upon a tree that bears no fruit, my humble shelter stands.
There is neither any grief from the stones of cruelty nor any fear of reaching hands, for my nest is on a tree that bears no fruit.

Hear me, O travelers of the caravan, I am no guide to lead; yet I see that not a single one among you walks upon the path.
Listen, O people of the caravan, I am not any guide, yet I see that not a single one among you is on the right path.

The sky is the abode of death, from which there is no flight; to leave, there is no doorway found; to flee, no path in sight.
The sky is the abode of death and there is no escape from it. If one tries to exit, there is no door, and if one tries to flee, there is no path.

Once on the heart, of any sigh there was no mark or name; at last it came to pass: the sigh remains, the heart is gone.
At first, there was neither name nor trace of a sigh upon the heart, but ultimately it happened that the sigh remains while the heart itself is gone.
5
From eternity's dawn to the end of time, this tale will not conclude; The chronicle of heaven's cruelty is not so brief as to be subdued.
This story will not come to an end from the dawn of creation until the end of eternity. The tale of heaven's (fate's) cruelty is not that brief.

An autumn-stricken leaf am I, disturb me not, O gentle breeze; I relish only lamentation, and hold no grievance with the rain.
I am a leaf stricken by autumn, so do not disturb me, O gentle breeze; I only possess a fondness for weeping and lamentation, and hold no complaint against the rain-bearing clouds.

Where is the denier of the Reckoning? Open your eyes and see: there is no dawn that does not break with tidings of Doomsday.
Where is the one who denies the Day of Judgment? Let them open their eyes and see that there is no dawn that does not bring news of the Resurrection.

Beholding the rose and the dew, how could ecstasy not take hold? The laughter is not without a cause, nor is the weeping without effect.
How can one not be overcome with ecstasy upon seeing the dew and the flower? The flower's smile is not without cause, nor are the tears of dew without effect.

Your humble beggar's pride surpasses that of monarchs crowned; he bears no headache to tilt his cap in haughty vanity around.
The pride of your beggar surpasses that of crowned kings, and he has no headache or need to tilt his cap in an arrogant display of status.

So what if you raised palaces, towers, and portals high? / Alas, ruined soul, you found no home in anyone's heart.
So what if you constructed grand mansions, palaces, roofs, and gates? Alas, ruined soul, it is a tragedy that you could not make a dwelling in anyone's heart.

To raise a lament like mine is impossible for the rival; he lacks the heart, the courage, the nerve, and the grit.
It is impossible for the rival to lament and cry out like I do. He possesses neither the heart, nor the courage, nor the nerve, nor the endurance.
12
O cunning player, aged sky, marvel at your ruthless theft: Neither the sword nor the waist of Khusraw and Kaiqubad is left.
O cunning and aged sky, marvel at your ruthless plunder; neither the sword nor even the waist of mighty kings like Khusraw and Kaiqubad remains.

The glory of the Bountiful is to bestow before the plea is voiced; what joy is there in any gift that comes not before the 'yes'?
The true grace of a generous giver lies in bestowing before one even has to ask or say 'yes'; what delight is there in a gift if it does not arrive beforehand?
14
Though they show endless cold indifference and stray down crooked ways, / My heart should feel at least some grief for this, yet not a trace remains.
No matter how indifferent they become or how crookedly they act, my heart should feel at least some sorrow over it, yet it feels none at all.

Take no offense at hearing this, nor deem the truth a lie; it is merely a mention, not a complaint—a word, not a lancet's blade.
Do not take offense upon hearing this, nor consider the truth to be a lie. It is merely a mention and not a complaint; it is just a statement, not a wounding dagger.
